Are You a Leader or a Slacker?

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Do you claim to be a Leader in your business or your field of expertise?

I have noticed that many people claim to be Leaders, but I consider them Slackers instead. A Slacker is someone that basically likes to give instruction or direction, but takes no action on advancing themselves or their business.

Does this describe you, your up-line or someone else on your
Mastermind Team? Here are some clues that might help you out.

Leader: Praises his/her team and offers encouragement
Slacker: Quick to find fault and slow to give praise

Leader: Holds himself/herself to a higher standard that his/her team
Slacker: Has a high level of expectation for his/her team but doesn’t hold
himself/herself to that same standard

Leader: Leads by example and is a role model for his/her team
Slacker: Blends in with crowd and never steps up to take a leadership role

Leader: Has deep rooted belief in his/her business and leads new teammates
through the growth process (learning the business and facing obstacles)
Slacker: Convinces a person to join his/her team then pawns them off on someone
else or simply pushes them to the side (Referred to as “sign and drop”)

Which of these characteristics, best describes you and your teammates? Be honest with yourself.

Just remember, that a leader must lead and nourish others through the growth process. If he/she loses integrity and fails to take action, then this same failure mindset will ripple down to his/her teammates. A team will duplicate their leader and their leader’s actions.

Let me ask you one last time…Are you a Leader or a Slacker?

The 5 Reasons You Have Failed To Flourish – A Series (Part 2)

#2: YOU TAKE INVENTORY – THEN STOP

As you are moving ahead and changing your thoughts and feeling better, you suddenly stop and look around and look for evidence. What happened to your dreams? You just knew that better job, new car, or increased financial situation was just around the corner. You were mindful, you are thinking more positive than ever. You have been diligent. Yet, what happened? There is no evidence.

Beware, that is your non-conscious trying to trick you! That is the warning sign that you have moved out of your comfort zone and you are being told to get back where you belong. It is not safe here. This is un-chartered territory. Your discomfort will continue to grow. Do not pay it any heed. It is a great sign that you are making progress.

Take a moment and a deep breath. What are you feeling in your body? Chances are you may be feeling discomfort, pain or tension somewhere physically. Another sure sign you are growing.

This has always stopped you before. Sometimes it looked like fear, sometimes disappointment. It does not matter how it disguised itself, it is the way you sabotage yourself. Think back, haven’t you been here, felt this way, or almost close before and resorted to your “old ways?”

Remember the story of the man who planted the seed and kept digging it up to see if it was growing? That is what you are doing. Let it be, let it grow!

The only way you will achieve that dream, be that success, is to keep moving in the direction of your goals. There is no turning back. You have come much farther than you think. Your dreams are right around the corner. They have been there waiting for you, always. You just kept turning around and going back. Go for it, stay the course. You can do it. Inventory is for later, when you are counting your blessings and all that you have manifested. Do not stop now.

Dr. Nancy Heimstra teaches people who don’t know what they want to be when they grow up an easy way to get clear on their life purpose so they can make more money, have better relationships and live the life they always wanted, by taking action.

Enzymes

Essentials of Enzymes

Enzymes work with your immune system to bring back your natural vitality. A wide array of these enzymes is absolutely essential to lead a robust, active life. Your body naturally produces its own supply of enzymes, but with age enzyme production slows and your supply dwindles.

Extensive clinical and scientific research has shown a very strong connection between aging, how the body manages inflammation, and how inflammation is linked to many chronic degenerative diseases. Enzymes rebalance your body’s inflammatory response, and fine-tune the repair processes necessary to recover from injury and disease.

For chronic aches and pains, most of us have learned to reach for an aspirin, ibuprofen or other over-the-counter drugs, despite the side effects. Aspirin can cause microscopic bleeding in the stomach, leading to ulcerations and other gastrointestinal problems. Ibuprofen can blur your vision, make your ears ring and, ironically, aggravate the headaches and swelling you’re trying to ease. And they don’t even fix the problem – they just cover it up. A small shift in thinking could help you avoid the aches and discomfort, and the painkillers that can cause long-term side effects.

Professional athletes and “weekend warriors” know that after an injury or muscle strain, damaged blood vessels cause swelling as a signal to the body to prevent further abuse. With adequate rest, the injury would normally heal, but who wants to wait? The sooner you can recover, the better.

No matter what the injury, your body requires increased quantities of enzymes. Many people suffer from a chronic “itis” – arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, sinusitis, tinnitus, prostatitis, cystitis, pancreatitis, ulcerative colitis, thrombophlebitis. They may also be exposed to “miracle-itis” – that is, the new so-called “miracle cures” that offer loads of hype but little help. Scientists may be on the verge of discovering miracles, but until then, we know of no magic bullet that can beat a good long-term nutritional strategy.

An all-natural approach to obtaining necessary antioxidants and anti-inflammatories, along with vitamins and 13 essential minerals necessary for metabolism, is through a new product called Via Viente.

Getting The Right Domain Name

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Once you are comfortable with working online, you should buy a domain name for your site or sites. Domain name registration, if you do it right, is one of the key components of having your site rate high in the search engines. The right domain name is memorable, and can get your site to rank higher than other names. The wrong domain name won’t do you any good at all.

The Basics of Domain Name Registration

The first thing you have to do is come up with a good domain name for registration. Don’t even think about a one-word domain name; they’re all gone at this point. Instead, come up with dual-word combos. If you’re putting together a professional site, try your name before anything else.

Don’t get fancy with spelling when selecting your domain name registration, or use 2s and 8s to represent their sounds. You can try the number 1; that sometimes works. You can also try the names of products you offer, or a description of your site content offerings: Romanceforgirls, popcornpalace, fluffykittens. Memorable is always better; short and memorable is best, but very difficult to accomplish.

Come up with a couple of dozen names that will do for your site, and test them on a registry. Don’t buy a domain name for which the .com extension is gone, but you have access to the .net or .info. These domain names are not by any means as valuable as the .com. If you pick up the .com, though, and you expect the site to be lucrative or have a lot of competition, it’s not a bad idea to pick up the other extensions as well. Domain name registration is NOT expensive, and if you register in bulk you can get an even better price.

The .UK Extension

This doesn’t mean you should avoid anything but .com. If you have a business in the United Kingdom, you have access to the .uk domain name set, which UK customers are likely to look at before anything else for UK-specific businesses.

If you anticipate most of your business will come from British customers who are aware your business is in Britain, the .uk extension may be a better choice than the .com; and if your customers are unhappy with Internic’s control of Internet domain registration or they are very pro-Britain, the .uk extension is certainly a better choice.

If you’re fortunate enough to find both extensions for your domain open, and if you run a British company, it doesn’t cost much to buy them both, and you definitely should.

It also gives your online presence an immediate “identity” geographically which can be crucial in building online relationships- where trust is a key component. By being a .UK domain, you are very likely to gain UK clients.

The .UK domains market is one of the fastest growing and lucrative registration areas on the internet.

Tips for Domain Name Registration

Have a website ready to plunk into your domain as soon as you buy it, and submit it immediately to the search engines. The search engines take time to index new sites and your domain name registration is only as valuable as the search engines make it.

You can also have more than one domain name pointing at a single site. If you’ve bought multiple extensions for your domain name (as in the previously-suggested .com/.uk combination), you can set up your site under one domain name and then direct traffic from the others to the main site. This is called web traffic forwarding and has been around for years. It may be as simple as parking your domain name on a server and putting a line of code on the page, or as complex as going through another website to use their online web forwarding services.

When you do register a domain and start building traffic to it, go out and renew for multiple years before your renewal is due. It is surprisingly easy to forget to register your domain name on time, and if someone else sneaks in and registers it, you’ve just lost a ton of work on that domain.

By making your domain name memorable, you will help other webmasters remember your site easily when building anchor texts in their links- a crucial component of SEO.

Final tip: don’t just think about price when looking for a domain registration company- also think about quality of service. While you shouldn’t be paying over the odds, it really is better to be safe than sorry and go with the more established registrars. Then you can have peace of mind that should any problems arise, you will be well looked after.

Love Advice: Most Women Don’t Want A Fling

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Are you over the age of 35 and looking for a life partner? Do you want a committed relationship rather than a fling?

Most clients come to coaching looking for a permament, lasting relationship, but are confused about the conflicting messages they receive from dating partners.

There are questions you can ask and signs that you can look for that will tell you if a man is serious about love.

What are the questions you should ask?

Very early in the dating relationship, you need to ask the person what they want and how they envision their life in the future. Most people will tell you the truth. If someone says they aren’t ready for a committed relationship, believe them. If they tell you they have had multiple marriages or partners, ask what kind of personal growth venues they have sought in order to understand their behavior and patterns.

What if you meet someone on the Internet?

Lots of great people have met each other on the Internet. However, without knowing the history of someone, and without knowing their friends and family, you need a certain length of time before you really understand them. Take a year to see them with their close acquaintances and family, and go through the holidays to get a clear picture of who they are. Along with that information, ask the person about their dating and relationship history.

What are some of the warning signs that someone has no intention of ever being committed?

Unfounded jealousy is often a sign that he is doing something that he is not proud of. Other signs are, if he does not want to take you to meet his friends and family; if he does not want to talk about his work; he is always late; and if he can’t give you a commitment about what you will be doing next week.

No one is perfect nor is anyone expected to be. But how your potential love interest responds to your questions; what he does with his life; and what values he lives by, speak loudly to the commitment issue.

It is important that you understand and believe that you deserve a commitment if you want one. Women who are in committed relationships are in them because they insisted upon it. They were not willing to drift along, accepting less than what they wanted to give and have.

Meeting the love of your life takes work. Don’t give up. He’s out there. And…you don’t have to settle for a fling.

An Easy Way to End The Year

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

As a healthy business owner or independent professional, how do you end your year? Well, I tell my clients to stop working. That’s right, stop working. The kind of work I’m talking about is the work of getting new business. There is no new business in the dark days of winter, just the clean up of old business. If you have clients that must spend in order to deduct prior to years’ end, go to it. This is for those who have the time to take the time.

Just stop. Take it easy. Take a day or more to clean out your space. Go through each document and get rid of as many as possible. If it’s important, it will show up again. Don’t answer the phone until the bags are full. (Don’t answer the phone until 10:30 a.m. anyway, just for this month.)

Remain calm during this hectic time.

Throw away all your old magazines. Don’t subscribe to any new ones without an old one expiring. Check your e-mail subscriptions. Remove those you never read. Review the past year and identify the intangibles that contributed to your success. Passion, attitude, commitment, integrity and perseverance are solid ingredients in business achievements.

Let go of everything in your life that drains you or is a burden. Look at your daytimer, starting from January 1. How much time was scheduled for you? How many new friends did you make this year? How many problem people will you eliminate from the Rolodex of life? How much more time will there be for you or your new hobby?

What did you learn this past year? Write a letter to yourself and applaud your triumphs and your failures. Look at the people who have helped you this past year. Send them a note of appreciation.

Be grateful for what you have.

Check your income for last year. What’s your amount for 2003? Determine the number of days you want to work in 2004, divide that into your 2004 projections and you have a new monthly financial model!

You don’t have to look for new business to create new business; just create the space for it to appear. Take care of yourself, first, and avoid a hectic January. Take a nap, go to the movies, buy yourself a present and be happy.

How to Generate Exponential Traffic Growth By Writing Articles

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Writing articles is probably one of the best things any internet marketer can do.

Why?

Because it establishes you as an authority on the subject that you are writing on and because writing articles will also increase the number of people (and visitors) who know about and visit your website.

Writing articles and allowing other webmasters to post your articles on their website will absolutely explode the number of backlinks to your site, in addition to increasing the number of people who visit your site – both of which help to increase your website’s popularity and search engine ranking.

The best part about giving away free articles for other webmasters to publish on their own website is that this sort of thing is viral – so you could end up getting thousands of visitors to your site from just one article that you wrote.

Think about that for a moment.

You write an article and then make it available to webmasters to post on their site, because they need content for their website. But on every article that you write, you have a link back to your website – so in a way they are promoting your website in exchange for you allowing them to post their article on their site.

So, if your article gets published by twenty webmasters, you will automatically have twenty additional backlinks to your website, along with twenty additional streams of traffic coming to your website.

Also, the visitors who visit the webmaster’s site and see your article automatically make the assumption that the webmaster endorses you and your website. That makes these visitors a little more likely to visit your site than if a link to your website was just listed on their links page.

With advantages like these, you can see why you want to submit your article to as many different websites, forums and article directories as possible.

This article was taken from Tim’s ebook, White Hat SEO Revealed, which covers detailed, step by step information on how you can dramatically increase your current search engine rankings and website traffic. Tim’s ebook is available for free at http://www.phase1.ws

Miracle (DVD) Review

Monday, December 15th, 2008

One of the most inspiring films of 2004, Miracle is a Disney rendition of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team’s improbable pursuit of Olympic Gold. Based on the true story of the ragtag team that captured the nation’s imagination, it connects with audience like few movies of its kind. And the title’s reference to fabled broadcaster Al Michaels’ famous quote conjures vivid memories of a moment that provided America with a jolt of much needed confidence during one of the lowest points of the Cold War. As such, Miracle is more than just another sports movie. It’s a film that bleeds patriotism and individual inspiration…

Miracle follows the life of Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell), a highly successful college hockey coach who just missed being a part of the last US Olympic gold medal ice hockey team in 1960. Several months before the Olympic games, Brooks is given the task of putting together an amateur hockey team derived from relatively inexperienced college students, one that can compete with the mighty Soviet juggernaut which not only boasts some of the best players in the world, but an amazing 15-year winning streak.

Along the way, Brooks faces a challenge from the team’s committee members when he decides to form a roster that fails to include some of the best known players in the country. Intent on choosing a team and not just a collection of individual stars, Brooks wins his battle, and most of the final roster is pinned down on day one.

Slowly, Brooks brings the strange amalgam of players together, many of them from competing colleges, to create a truly united team. Following a loss to Sweden in which his players are more focused on girls in the crowd than on winning the game, Brooks pushes his players through a series of conditioning drills. He literally pushes them to the brink of exhaustion, informing them that they don’t have the talent to beat the Soviets, but they will be the best conditioned team on the ice.

By exerting enormous psychological and physical pressure upon his players, Brooks finds out who has the mental capacity to take the US team to its highest level possible. When the 1980 Olympic Games arrive in Lake Placid, the Soviets are the overwhelming favorites, setting the stage for a classic David versus Goliath showdown and prompting Al Michaels to utter his famous one-liner “Do you believe in miracles?”

Adapted from the true story that played out during the height of the Cold War, and the pinnacle of Soviet power specifically, Miracle is an inspiring tale of teamwork, freedom’s triumph over oppression, and the great heights which ordinary men can achieve. Uplifting and personally touching, this is a film that no sports fan, movie lover, or American should miss. Do yourself a favor and watch Miracle…

The Bad Credit Card That May Do Good

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Millions of people use credit cards all around the world. A huge chunk of those users made mistakes when dealing with their credit cards. The consequence of the errors is costly.

A lot end up in debt and most of the time these are the people who rant about the credit card being the devil. But fact of the matter is, this is not the case. When used properly, credit cards are very good financial tools.

Credit cards are not necessarily just for people who have large sums of money to use. There are some cards even for the financially challenged, and these are called the: “Bad Credit Cards.”

A bad credit card is just precisely that: a card with a very bad or low credit limit.

There are two types of credit cards: there is the secured and the unsecured credit cards.

Unsecured credit cards are the accounts that are free from the limits of a bank account. The limit of credit is up to the bank’s discretion and not up to the size of the bank account. If the bank thinks that a person is deserving of a bigger credit, then it will be given.

This is the usual type of credit cards in the market and is fairly popular among the card shopping people. These are also the cards known to be more respected by other companies. These are also the cards known to send people to a very deep debt.

This is the type of credit card that should be avoided if the applicant is already in a financial mess.

The secured credit cards are the bad credit cards. These cards are grounded on the size of the account a person has. For example, if a person has a $1,000 balance, then that is all the credit a person is going to get. If there is a point where the balance reaches $0, then the person should go and “re-fill” the account.

The bank limits the credit to the money already present to avoid overspending, thus preventing even deeper debt. This will monitor the expenses of the person and will help the development of a financial recovery for some.

These credit cards are also known as “pre-paid credit cards” for there is only a fixed amount that can be used and the holder is the one who puts it there.
