Improve Conversion Rates – Effective Content

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Your site is fast and getting traffic, but conversion rates are disappointing. You may have problems with the tone of your content

Do You Believe?

You must have passion for the product or service you are providing. If you don’t believe in it, why should visitors to your site? A lack of belief will result in weak content and poor conversion rates. If you are selling quality, you are doing the prospect a favor. The tone of your site should reflect this in the content.

To effectively convert prospects, every entry page of your site must tell visitors:

1. What you offer,

2. How they will benefit, and

3. Demand they take action.

Entry Pages

Many sites have conversion problems related to entry pages. Most people automatically envision the home page as the sole entry path to the site. Sweat, blood and tears are spent making the home page just write. Conversely, a fraction of the same effort is applied to internal pages. This is a fundamental mistake.

If server statistics are checked, you may be surprised to find significant amounts of traffic entering your site through internal pages of your site. Yes, a large percentage of visitors are entering the site without seeing the home page. If your “hook” is only on the home page, your conversions will suffer. Make sure you have a concise summary of your service and the benefits on every entry page to the site and conversions will improve.

What You Offer

Tell visitors exactly what you do with the first sentence. Don’t be subtle. You only have a few seconds to get their attention. Don’t waste it. The opening sentence should read something like, “At XYZ, we offer quality tools at wholesale prices.” Bam! The prospect knows exactly what you are offering and if it fills their need.

Benefits

Tell your prospect how they will benefit from doing business with you. Don’t assume they understand it. Again, be blunt with something like, “You save money when you buy from us because we have a low overhead and free shipping.” Bam! Now the visitor knows you sell tools at a low price. This combination should result in shopping activity if they have any need for the tool products.

Demand Action

What do you want prospects to do when they visit your site? At the end of your content, make sure you tell them. “Click here to order” is a perfectly fine statement, but adding a benefit is optimal. “Click here to order with free shipping” is a superior demand. Regardless, make sure you tell them what to do and make it is easy as possible to take the requested action.

If you are offering quality, you are doing clients a favor. Make sure the tone of your site reflects that fact.

Smoking in Casinos

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

In our health conscious world, it is becoming less and less popular to light up a cigarette in a time of stress. It is no longer considered cool to smoke, a fact which is slowly encroaching on the old image of a poker player in a smoking room with a pack at the ready. At this time, most casinos still allow smoking at the poker tables. It is simply a part of the game, as intrinsic to the excitement as all in bets.

If you do not happen to be a smoker, some casinos offer small nonsmoking areas where you can enjoy the game without the second hand fumes. If you are really serious about poker, however, you should voyage into the smoking section. Smoking can function as an easy to spot tell. Relaxed players puff very differently than players that are deep in thought. Sometimes bluffing players will even hold their smoke in for exceptionally long in the moment. You can learn to recognize smoking tells easily, even if you have difficulty recognizing other kinds of tells.

Due to popular pressure, the large poker tournaments like the World Series of Poker are strictly smoke free. If you are a habitual smoker, this could pose a problem as you will not be able to light up in the middle of the round. If you are a nonsmoker, you will lose the ability to judge players off of their smoking tells. If you miss the smoky atmosphere, remember that you are free to set your own rules when you play poker at home.

A new generation of gamers should have read the caption “offshore sports betting” recently, though many might not be totally confident of what it stands for exactly. A foreign gaming internet site basically works extrinsically to the control of a given country on the other hand it can also mean a web based gaming web site running their host computer inside the borders of a state in which networked sports gaming is not at this time outlawed. Briefly therefore, it’s a wagering web site doing business outside the country of the gambler. Online sports gambling sites are at present modulated through 3 councils. Shared Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers And Virtual Private Servers

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Many times those that are relatively new to web hosting terminology stumble into some confusion in their quest for a good web hosting plan. One of the major sources of this confusion may simply come down to what is what where web hosting plans are concerned.

In this article I will talk about three different types of web hosting and their differences. These types are shared web hosting, dedicated server hosting and virtual private server. They mostly vary wildly in price and altogether fill different needs as far as hosting plans are concerned.

Shared web hosting is a term used to refer to when a hosting company puts websites from many different users on one server. Every user is usually given some limit to the amount of resources their site is able to consume. When several sites on the same server get busy or a script on one site consumes extra resources the server can bog down, slowing your site.

Most shared hosting plans are very cost effective and if you get a good hosting company you may be able to avoid having your site bogged down by having too many users on one server. Many shared plans can be had for under $10 a month and come packed with features and possibly even free domain registrations.

Dedicated server hosting is the most expensive web hosting of the three. Instead of sharing a server with other users you are in effect renting an entire server for yourself. Usually, all of the resources of the server are at your disposal. Many times hosting companies give you several options for the type of server you can rent and the operating system it runs.

Dedicated servers are for either bigger sites or for the webmaster who has 200 web sites and is tired of paying for 200 shared hosting accounts. Shared or virtual private server hosting accounts usually can handle personal or small business sites.

A virtual private server in essence is a hybrid of a shared web hosting account and a dedicated server. Software on the server is able to break it down into multiple “virtual” servers. The effect is basically like having several servers on the same machine. You would be paying for one of these virtual servers.

Virtual servers allow you the flexibility of customizing your server settings as if you were renting a dedicated server but since you are actually sharing a server with other users you pay much less. Virtual private server plans are usually priced just a bit higher than shared web hosting.

When you search for hosting do whatever research you need to do to pick the plan that’s right for you. There are thousands of sites offering quality information about web hosting that will help you to fill in any gaps in your knowledge and enable you to make the best possible decision.

Many hosting plans seem to offer the world on a string for a quarter. That’s fine and all but what happens when they cram several hundred busy accounts on one server and your site loads 30kb of HTML in 10 minutes on a DSL connection?

There may actually be many different hosts that can be right for you. Whichever you pick will come down to your requirements for resources like bandwidth and storage space, your requirements for features like PHP and/or ASP, and your requirements for price and level of support. Have fun.

The point at a graduation ceremony where this flipping is done differs from school to school, but usually there are ushers present to signal it out to students. Top 4 Reasons Women Ride The “Emotional Roller-Coaster”

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

1. Women have learned and are in the habit of being driven by the approval of others. Most women allow the expectations of others to define them and therefore making the approval of others is responsible for their happiness. This pattern gives others’ the power to make and take your happiness at any time. Approval seeking steals your happiness and doesn’t allow you to ever get to know yourself, your wants, your desires, or your needs. A total disconnect. Thus an up and down roller-coaster of emotions. Not a pleasant way to live.

2. Women their achievements define their value. This belief causes several problems. When you believe that you are defined by your achievements, you are unable to feel good about yourself or have strong self-esteem unless you are accomplishing or producing which does not allow for down time, relaxation or free creativity. There is no room for you to just be… you. You identify yourself as results. This way of living allows for little or no joy, peace, or contentment because you are always looking for the next way to achieve. This is very different from healthy goal setting. Attaching your value to your achievements will ensure that you will not exit your emotional roller-coaster.

3. Women believe their children define them. Holding this belief can be very damaging for the parent and the child. When parents (unconsciously) hold the belief that their children define them or give them value, they will act in a way that pressures kids to perform at a standard they cannot match up to. Or parents try to force kids to have goals that the parent thinks is best and disregard what the kid or teen wants. Parents with this belief tie their sense of purpose to their children’s results or who they become. This will steal your child’s own sense of worth because he/she will only feel good about themselves when they meet your standards and expectations. And quite frankly this is not the unconditional love your child deserves. This is pushing your own agenda on your kids. Children, teens, and young adults need some (increasing as they age) space to figure out what they want and what is important to them! Discover your own identity and allow your children to do the same. Anything else will push your children away emotionally as they grow up. If you depend on your children’s results (or your perception of what these results “should” be) you will stay on the emotional roller-coaster!

4. Women believe that their husbands are supposed to make them happy. Who of you thought when you got married (if you are married), or perhaps moved in with a significant other, that, “this person will make me so happy”? Or if you have experienced a divorce or a break-up, you may have thought, “this person makes me so unhappy”. I am simplifying a bit, but the principal is true. The problem with this thinking is that if we allow people to “make” us happy, then at any time that person can “take” our happy. Only you are responsible for your happiness. You must create or develop an inner knowing that you are completely loveable, worthy, and valuable regardless of who is or isn’t a part of our life!

Life’s Board of Directors – Who Sits on Yours?

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

So much has been in the news recently about boards of directors, seemingly to be asleep at the wheel while major corporations crumbled. Good or bad, boards of directors effect the direction of a business. What about a life? Who sits on the “board of directors” for your life? Who has made an imprint upon you in such a way that their influence has cast a direction for your life?

So much has been in the news recently about boards of directors, seemingly to be asleep at the wheel while major corporations crumbled. Most boards are designed to provide oversight and guidance to the direction of a business. Good or bad, boards of directors effect the direction of a business. What about a life? Who sits on the “board of directors” for your life? Who has made an imprint upon you in such a way that their influence has cast a direction for your life?

Recently, I have been reviewing who sits on the board of directors for my life. Here is a snapshot:

My grandmother who was adventurous, mischievous and somewhat risqué all rolled up into a southern farm woman. She loved a good joke, and a dirty one even better! My mother taught her how to drive. She then bought a car and drove around our small town without ever getting her license. She cheated when she played cards and could make losing fun. In the early 1960’s, she hopped a plane and flew to the west coast in order to be with a daughter that was very sick. Prior to this, the greatest distance she had traveled before was about a 25 mile radius from her home. She taught me a lot about courage and adventure.

My father sits on my board. Of the many things a parent teaches you, the one thing he taught me that I wish he hadn’t was how to die gracefully. He endured a very horrible demise with quiet grace and courage. I hope I die that well.

My friend Faye has walked with me through the darkest period of my life. She was a beacon of light when I thought the darkness would envelope me. She taught me a lot about continuing the journey, even when I didn’t think another step could be made.

Often times many people come into your life right out of nowhere. My friend Andrea lives up to every description of a best friend. She has been a rock of consistent strength, no matter how rough my edges. She has taught me how to give and receive the gift of friendship from a healthy place.

Some people that sit on my board haven’t necessarily had an initial positive impact. While in high school, I received a recruiting catalog from a university. This particular person was there when I opened the mail and responded, “What are you going to go to college for, you’ll never amount to anything.” As deep as the words cut they have impacted me to be a high achiever, driven to success.

Some people will always be on my board; others will come and go based on where I am in life. What about you, who sits on the board of your life? What impact have they had in shaping your journey? Whose board do you sit on? What influence do you have?

Help Me Choose: Linux vs. Windows Web Hosting

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

To help you choose the best operating system (OS) for your Web site to reside on, we have developed the following guide:

First let’s start with a definition of an operating system, which is the software platform on which a web server runs.

Red Hat Linux:

Linux is an excellent operating system that is well suited to meet your web hosting needs. It handles the functions of mailing, and serving up Web sites and files especially well. Additionally, there are a huge amount of free applications available on the Internet for Linux and it uses less hardware resources than Windows 2003. Whether you are a fairly experienced webmaster or new to web hosting, we recommend that you choose Red Hat Linux as your hosting platform.

Red Hat Linux is most widely used hosting platform in the world.

Microsoft Windows 2003:

Microsoft Windows 20003 server provides a suitable platform for serving up Web sites, files, and streaming media. Additionally, it integrates well with other Microsoft applications and there are a large amount of commercial applications available for this OS. We recommend you choose Windows 2003 as your hosting platform only if you are using specific applications that require Microsoft Windows to run such as Access, Cold Fusion, ASP, .Net, and Microsoft SQL.

Note: Microsoft FrontPage may be used on both the Linux and Windows platforms.

Please Note:

One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to select the same operating system for your hosting account that you use on your own computer. That is simply not true. This means you can select Linux for your hosting account if you currently use Windows 95, 98, NT/200, or XP on your own computer. We suggest that everyone who chooses a shared hosting plan, host their Web site on Linux if they are not utilizing ASP, Cold Fusion, or MSSQL 2000.

Las Vegas Presents Alternatives To Add Excitement to Your Wedding

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

There are many choices available if you want to add a little, or a lot of excitement, to your Las Vegas wedding. This electrifying city offers many opportunities to give your Vegas wedding some momentum, in some cases quite literally.

How about getting married in a hot air balloon as it soars above the earth? Several Las Vegas wedding chapels offer you this opportunity. Looking for more of an adrenaline rush than that? How about really taking the plunge? At Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel they offer a package where the happy couple gets hitched and then is whisked away to a indoor skydiving adventure. You can even have a video made of you taking the plunge both times.

If this is a little too adventurous for you but you still want something out of the ordinary, consider one of the many limousine wedding packages available. That’s right, you can say I do in the back of a limo as it cruises the famous Las Vegas Strip. Not only that, but you have your choice of limos. Hummer, Excursion, and traditional limousines can all be found.

Another option for adding an extra thrill to your big day is to consider a wedding on the roller coaster at the top of the Stratosphere tower, which is located over 900 feet above the ground. If you want to get to a higher elevation than that, opt for a helicopter wedding. Many locations offer them and you have your choice of destinations. You can either say I do while flying over the Las Vegas Strip or the Grand Canyon.

If you want something more relaxing, try a gondola wedding at the Venetian Hotel. You can say I do as you and your beloved float down a canal in a romantic, Venice-themed setting. Lake Mead Cruises offers weddings on a paddlewheel boat as it explores famous Lake Mead. Drive thru weddings are also readily available. The Little White Wedding Chapel offers a drive thru tunnel and offers bike and limousine rentals if you don’t want to use your own car. At A Special Memory Wedding Chapel they have a drive up window and offer the option of having Elvis pick up the happy couple in his pink Cadillac. At A Las Vegas Garden of Love, you can say I do at their drive thru window while sitting in a Viper, Prowler, or even a Monster Truck.

So if you are looking to add an extra bit of exhilaration to your special day, look no further than Las Vegas. The choices this entertaining city can provide can not be matched anywhere else in the world.

Rebecca Johnson is owner of Las Vegas Wedding Informer, a website that offers information about Las Vegas wedding locations. If you would like to learn more about Las Vegas wedding locations and the packages and services they offer, visit http://www.lasvegasweddinginformer.com.
