Vacations in the USVI
We chose to go the US Virgin Islands for our holiday in summer so that we could enjoy our days on the beach without the bother of marijuana peddlers and hawkers selling everything from jewelry to clothes and food. After our last vacation in the Caribbean, we wanted to go to place where we could enjoy motorized water sports without worrying about the safety of the boat and the equipment.
We were able to choose from a number of motorized water sports like jetskiing, water skiing and parasailing when we were in the USVI. Our resort had a choice of activities available which included non-motorized and motorized water sports, hiking tours, visits to historic homes, biking trips and canoeing around the island. Among fitness enthusiasts and the water sports aficionados in our group, kite boarding, surfing and windsurfing were the favored activities. The amphibious bus tour of Charlotte Amalie and the harbor on St. Thomas was a fun adventure for all of us.
For avid nature tourists like us, canoeing and kayaking in the serene lagoons and mangroves offered an opportunity to enjoy the rich natural beauty of the islands. When we went kayaking around the island, we could imagine the way the native tribes used to live and move from one island to the other..
History buffs in favor cultural tourism can have their fill in the USVI. Blackbeard’s castle Tower and a tour of the historic homes of the Danish and English colonial times offer an interesting perspective of the islands’ history.
Adults in favor of an active holiday on the golf course instead of the adrenalin rush of motorized water sports, can opt for a mini-golf session or a regular game on the 18-hole golf course on St. Thomas..
