Tough Tables

Often, when you sit down at a poker table, you can find at least one or two players who you feel that you can beat (a few calling stations here, some overly loose players there) and you know can pretty much use them as your starting point. We should be so lucky as to have opponents like these at every poker table we find, but that’s not always the case. Every now and then you’ll find yourself at a table that’s populated mostly by solid poker players, players who can make solid reads, who know what cards they want to play, and how they can use their cards and stacks with the best effect.

When I find myself up against a table of really good players like at Everest Poker telecharger, I find that there are certain tactics that help keep me in the game long enough to make some cash.

1. I tighten up my game. I sit and fold hand after hand until I feel like I’ve got a bead on each player, and I try to make it as obvious as possible to my opponents that I only play solid starting hands.

2. Once I feel that I’ve established my tight image, I play against it, loosening up a bit and buying a few more pots to get a decent-sized chip stack.

3. I constantly re-evaluate my opponents. With good players, you need to constantly observe your opponents and take note of any change that they make when they play. The best players adopt a wide range of styles to keep their opponents off-guard.
